Description

This Amish Apple Fritter Bread combines tender cinnamon-spiced apples with a moist vanilla loaf and a sweet glaze on top. It tastes like your favorite apple fritter in soft, sliceable form   perfect for cozy mornings or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Apple Layer:

2 apples (peeled, cored, and chopped – Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great)

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Bread Batter:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 3/4 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup milk

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:

1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

1/2 cup powdered sugar

12 tbsp milk or cream

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the apple layer: In a small bowl, mix apples with 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Set aside.

3. Make the batter: Cream together butter and 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

4. Mix in flour and baking powder, then add milk and stir until smooth.

5. Layer the bread: Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Add half of the apple mixture and sprinkle half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mix.

6. Add remaining batter, then top with remaining apples and brown sugar-cinnamon mix. Lightly swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.

7. Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

8. Make the glaze: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread before serving.

Notes

Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a perfect sweet-tangy flavor.

For extra texture, add chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.

Let the glaze set for 10–15 minutes before slicing for a cleaner presentation.

This bread stays moist for up to 3 days when stored in an airtight container.
