Description
These Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts combine the cozy flavors of apple fritters with the crispy texture of waffles finished with a sweet vanilla glaze for an irresistible breakfast treat.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup applesauce
1 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 apple, peeled and diced (about 1 cup)
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat your waffle maker and lightly grease it with cooking spray or butter.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
3. In another bowl, whisk together egg, milk, applesauce, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
5. Fold in the diced apple.
6. Spoon about 1/4 cup of batter into each section of the waffle maker and cook until golden brown and crisp.
7. Transfer waffles to a cooling rack and let them cool slightly.
8. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
9. Dip each waffle donut in the glaze or drizzle it over the top.
10. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
You can use chopped Granny Smith apples for a tart flavor or Honeycrisp for a sweeter version.
Try adding a dash of clove or allspice for extra warmth.
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be reheated in the toaster or air fryer for 2–3 minutes.
