Ingredients
1 lb halal ground beef (80/20 blend)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
4 burger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese
1 tbsp butter or oil (for toasting buns)
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Onion slices
Pickles
Burger sauce or mayo
Instructions
1. Divide beef into 4 loose balls (do not pack tightly).
2. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
3. Place beef balls on the hot surface and smash each one firmly with a metal spatula or burger press until thin.
4. Season generously with salt and pepper.
5. Cook for 2–3 minutes until edges are crispy and browned.
6. Flip each patty, place a slice of cheese on top, and cook another 1–2 minutes until melted.
7. Toast the burger buns in butter or oil until golden.
8. Assemble burgers with sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and the cheesy beef patty.
9. Serve immediately with fries or chips.
Notes
For extra flavor, mix a little Worcestershire sauce into the beef before forming balls.
Use two thin patties per burger for a classic double-smash style.
Try topping with caramelized onions or jalapeños for a spicy twist.
