Description
These Chantilly Mashed Potatoes are the ultimate in creamy comfort buttery, airy, and rich with warm cream and milk. Perfect for holidays, Sunday dinners, or any meal that deserves a touch of luxury.
Ingredients
2 lbs (900g) Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes
4 tbsp unsalted butter
½ cup heavy cream (or more for desired creaminess)
½ cup whole milk
Salt, to taste
White pepper, to taste
Optional: pinch of nutmeg or garlic for extra flavor
Instructions
1. Peel and cut the potatoes into even chunks. Place in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender. Drain well.
3. Use a potato ricer or food mill for the smoothest texture. If you don’t have one, a hand masher works, but avoid over-mixing.
4. In a small saucepan, heat butter, cream, and milk until warm. Gradually fold into the mashed potatoes using a spatula or whisk until light and airy. Season with salt, white pepper, and optional nutmeg.
5. Transfer to a serving bowl and optionally pipe using a star tip for a fancy presentation.
Notes
Use Yukon Gold potatoes for a buttery texture or Russet for extra fluffiness.
Do not over-mix the potatoes, or they can turn gluey.
For an extra decadent version, fold in a few spoonfuls of whipped cream just before serving.
Pairs beautifully with roast chicken, turkey, or beef tenderloin.
