Description
Crispy Chicken Flautas golden, crunchy rolled tortillas filled with shredded chicken, cheese, and Mexican spices. Perfectly fried or baked, these flautas make an irresistible appetizer or main dish served with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
Ingredients
2 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 cup shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup salsa or enchilada sauce
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
10 small flour or corn tortillas
Oil for frying or brushing (if baking)
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix together shredded chicken, cheese, cream cheese, salsa, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
2. Warm tortillas slightly in the microwave to make them pliable.
3. Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of filling along one edge of each tortilla and roll tightly.
4. If frying: Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry flautas seam-side down for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
5. If baking: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place rolled flautas seam-side down on a lined baking sheet, brush lightly with oil, and bake 15–18 minutes until crispy and golden.
6. Serve hot with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or pico de gallo.
Notes
For extra crunch, sprinkle a bit of shredded cheese on top before baking.
Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes for a lighter version.
