Description
Rich, gooey, and irresistibly chocolatey, this Crockpot Chocolate Lava Cake is an effortless dessert that practically makes itself warm cake on top with molten fudge underneath.
Ingredients
1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
1 3.9 oz box instant chocolate pudding mix
2 cups milk
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 3/4 cups hot water
Nonstick cooking spray
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving
Instructions
1. Spray the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In a large bowl, prepare the cake batter according to the package directions using eggs, oil, and water (or milk as desired).
3. Pour the batter into the slow cooker.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and milk until smooth.
5. Pour the pudding mixture evenly over the cake batter (do not stir).
6. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the top.
7. Pour the hot water gently over the entire surface — again, do not stir.
8. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, until the cake is set on top but still gooey underneath.
9. Turn off the slow cooker and let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
10. Spoon into bowls and top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Serve warm directly from the slow cooker for best texture.
Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor or add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate.
Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave for 20–30 seconds.
Perfect for potlucks or cold-weather comfort desserts.
