- 1 large French baguette, sliced in halves
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the garlic butter by mixing softened unsalted butter with minced garlic in a small bowl.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly across the sliced baguette.
- Add the shredded mozzarella generously over the garlic butter.
- Layer the fresh tomato slices on top of the cheese.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and dried oregano.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Broil for 1-2 minutes for a crispy top.
- Add chopped fresh basil on top after baking.
- Cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute butter with a vegan spread and use plant-based cheese.
