Description
A classic Maryland-style Crab Imperial rich, creamy, and bursting with sweet lump crabmeat baked to golden perfection with a buttery Old Bay–seasoned topping.
Ingredients
1 lb lump crabmeat, picked over for shells
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tbsp melted butter
Paprika for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a small baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and parsley.
3. Gently fold in crabmeat, being careful not to break up the lumps.
4. Spoon mixture into prepared baking dish or individual ramekins.
5. In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter.
6. Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top.
7. Dust with a pinch of paprika for color.
8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
9. Garnish with extra parsley and serve hot with lemon wedges.
Notes
Use fresh jumbo lump crabmeat for the best flavor and texture.
Delicious served with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or over seafood-stuffed fish.
Add a pinch of cayenne for a subtle heat if desired.
