  • Author: Michael
  • Total Time: 22 mins
  • Yield: 2 flatbreads (4 servings) 1x

Description

This Pear, Brie, and Cranberry Flatbread with Fig Jam and Balsamic Glaze is a gourmet-style appetizer or light meal that combines sweet, savory, and tangy flavors in every bite. It’s elegant, easy to make, and perfect for holiday entertaining or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Flatbread:

2 naan breads or flatbreads (store-bought or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons fig jam

1 ripe pear, thinly sliced (Bosc or Anjou work best)

4 oz (115 g) brie cheese, sliced or torn into pieces

¼ cup dried cranberries (or fresh, if preferred)

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped (optional but recommended)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Balsamic Glaze:

½ cup balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a small saucepan, bring the balsamic vinegar and honey to a gentle simmer. Cook over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and syrupy. Set aside to cool.

3. Place the naan or flatbreads on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each with olive oil, then spread a thin layer of fig jam over the surface.

4. Arrange the pear slices evenly across each flatbread. Top with pieces of brie cheese and sprinkle over the cranberries and rosemary. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

5. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the brie is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the flatbread are golden and crisp.

6. Drizzle the warm flatbread with the balsamic glaze, then slice and serve immediately.

Notes

🍐 Tips:

– Use ripe but firm pears for the best texture.

– Substitute brie with camembert or goat cheese if desired.

– Make it festive by adding pomegranate arils for a pop of color.

– The balsamic glaze can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
