  • Total Time: 30 mins
  • Yield: 20 shrimp balls 1x

Description

Crispy on the outside and tender inside, these golden shrimp balls are packed with juicy shrimp, aromatic seasonings, and fried or air-fried to perfection  an addictive snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 green onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp ginger, grated

1 egg white

2 tbsp cornstarch

1 tsp soy sauce

1/2 tsp sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for coating)

Oil for frying or cooking spray (for air fryer)

Instructions

1. Pat shrimp dry and roughly chop them, then place in a food processor.

2. Add green onions, garlic, ginger, egg white, cornstarch, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.

3. Pulse until a chunky paste forms (don’t overblend — small shrimp bits add texture).

4. With lightly oiled hands, shape mixture into 1-inch balls.

5. Roll each ball in panko breadcrumbs until evenly coated.

6. For frying: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry shrimp balls in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden and cooked through.

7. For air frying: Spray balls with oil and cook at 390°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.

8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with sweet chili or soy dipping sauce.

Notes

You can add finely chopped water chestnuts for extra crunch.

Make them ahead and refrigerate for up to a day before cooking.

Pair with sriracha mayo or garlic aioli for dipping.
