Description

Flaky, buttery croissants soaked in a rich custard and cooked to golden perfection  this Croissant French Toast is an elegant twist on the breakfast classic that tastes like a bakery treat.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large croissants, preferably day-old

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Butter for cooking

Maple syrup and fresh berries for serving

Powdered sugar for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Slice croissants in half lengthwise and set aside.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

3. Dip each croissant half into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for 10–15 seconds per side.

4. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a bit of butter.

5. Cook the soaked croissants cut side down first until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.

6. Repeat with remaining croissants, adding more butter as needed.

7. Serve warm with maple syrup, berries, and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

For an extra indulgent version, use chocolate or almond croissants.

Make it ahead: soak the croissants overnight and cook in the morning.

Serve with whipped cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for dessert-style French toast.
