- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl.
- Cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until you achieve a smooth dough.
- Shape the dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Flatten the dough balls with the bottom of a glass and add sprinkles if desired.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden but not dark.
- Prepare the icing by dissolving powdered sugar in milk until smooth, adding food coloring if desired.
- Frost the cooled cookies and add more sprinkles if you like.
- Let the icing set before serving.

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Chill dough if needed for easier handling.
