Description

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until you achieve a smooth dough.
  6. Shape the dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten the dough balls with the bottom of a glass and add sprinkles if desired.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden but not dark.
  9. Prepare the icing by dissolving powdered sugar in milk until smooth, adding food coloring if desired.
  10. Frost the cooled cookies and add more sprinkles if you like.
  11. Let the icing set before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Chill dough if needed for easier handling.
