Description

Mini French toast cups baked to golden perfection  soft, custardy centers with crisp edges, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet treat on the go.

Ingredients

Scale

6 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah preferred)

3 large eggs

1 cup milk

1/4 cup heavy cream

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Butter or nonstick spray (for greasing the pan)

Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or berries for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a muffin tin.

2. Cut the bread into small cubes and divide evenly among the muffin cups.

3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.

4. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to help absorb the custard.

5. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to soak.

6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and set.

7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before removing from the pan.

8. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.

Notes

Use stale bread for the best texture.

Add chocolate chips, raisins, or nuts for variation.

Can be made ahead and reheated for busy mornings.
