Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the layers with your choice of frosting and add sprinkles or edible decorations for a festive touch.
