Description

A delightful dessert combining flaky phyllo dough with a rich, creamy filling inspired by traditional Greek flavors.


Ingredients

  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semolina flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup honey, warmed
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by greasing it with melted butter.
  3. Layer the phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
  4. Make the filling by combining semolina flour, eggs, sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
  5. Pour the filling over the phyllo layers evenly.
  6. Top with the last sheet of phyllo and brush with melted butter, scoring lightly.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle with honey and sprinkle sesame seeds.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. It pairs well with vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit.
