Description
Quick and easy Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks made with juicy seasoned beef, caramelized onions, peppers, and melted provolone cheese all stuffed into toasted hoagie rolls for a satisfying weeknight meal.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 slices provolone cheese
4 hoagie rolls, split and toasted
Butter for toasting (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers; sauté for 5–6 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.
3. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Push the veggies to the side of the pan and add the ground beef.
5. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
7. Reduce heat to low and place provolone cheese slices on top of the beef mixture.
8. Cover until the cheese melts, then stir everything together.
9. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture into toasted hoagie rolls.
10. Serve hot with extra cheese or pickled peppers if desired.
Notes
Try adding mushrooms for an extra savory touch.
Use white American cheese or mozzarella instead of provolone for a different flavor.
To make it spicier, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or jalapeño slices.
