  • Author: Michael
  • Total Time: 50 mins (including decorating time)
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Description

These Spooky Spiced Halloween Mummy Cookies are soft, chewy, and filled with cozy fall spices. Each cookie is wrapped in sweet white chocolate ‘bandages’ and topped with candy eyes for a fun, kid-friendly Halloween treat!

Ingredients

Scale

For the cookies:

2¼ cups (280 g) all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1½ tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground ginger

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

⅛ tsp ground cloves (optional, for extra spice)

¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup (150 g) brown sugar, packed

¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp molasses or honey (for a rich spiced flavor)

For decoration (“mummy bandages”):

1½ cups (180 g) white chocolate or vanilla candy melts

Candy eyes (available in baking aisles or online)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes). Add egg, vanilla, and molasses; mix until smooth.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until a dough forms.

5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with your hand or the bottom of a glass.

6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are set. Cool completely before decorating.

7. Melt white chocolate or candy melts according to package directions.

8. Use a spoon or piping bag to drizzle the melted coating across each cookie in a crisscross pattern to resemble mummy bandages.

9. Add candy eyes while the chocolate is still soft. Let set completely before serving.

Notes

👻 Tips:

– Substitute white chocolate with vegan candy melts for a dairy-free option.

– Add a pinch of cayenne for a subtle heat twist.

– Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

– Perfect for Halloween parties, lunchbox treats, or spooky dessert tables!
