Ingredients
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup whole milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting), softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
A few drops of pink food coloring (optional)
Heart sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
5. Stir in vanilla extract.
6. Alternate adding dry ingredients with buttermilk and milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
7. Mix until smooth, being careful not to overmix.
8. Divide batter evenly among cupcake liners, filling each about 3/4 full.
9. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
10. Cool completely before frosting.
11. For the frosting, beat butter until creamy.
12. Gradually mix in powdered sugar, then add heavy cream, vanilla, and food coloring (if using).
13. Beat until light and fluffy.
14. Pipe or spread frosting on cooled cupcakes.
15. Top generously with heart sprinkles for a festive finish.
Notes
Add a touch of almond extract to the batter for extra flavor.
For colorful fun, fold some heart sprinkles into the batter before baking.
Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
