Crispy, creamy, and golden, this Hong Kong Style French Toast is ready in just 10 minutes. A satisfying treat for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
2 slices white bread (or brioche)
2 eggs
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Butter or neutral oil for frying
Optional: peanut butter or lotus paste
Toppings: maple syrup, fruit slices
Instructions
1. Trim the crusts off the bread.
2. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
3. (Optional) Spread filling between the two slices.
4. Dip sandwich in egg mixture, 30 seconds per side.
5. Heat butter/oil in skillet over medium heat.
6. Fry toast 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
7. Drain briefly on paper towel, rest 1–2 minutes.
8. Slice and serve with toppings.
Notes
Use slightly stale bread for best absorption.
Try red bean or kaya filling for authentic Asian flair.
Reheat leftovers in toaster or skillet.
