Ingredients

Scale

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

2 slices mozzarella or provolone cheese (for eyes)

2 black olive slices (for pupils)

Extra ketchup or BBQ sauce, for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

3. Shape the mixture into a loaf resembling a mummy’s body and place it on the prepared sheet.

4. Spread a thin layer of ketchup or BBQ sauce on top of the loaf.

5. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips and wrap them loosely around the meatloaf, leaving small gaps to resemble mummy bandages.

6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and pastry is golden brown.

7. Add cheese slices for eyes near the top and place olive slices in the center of each for pupils.

8. Return to the oven for 2–3 minutes to slightly melt the cheese, then remove and let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra fun, use mini meatloaves to make individual mummies.

Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
