Ingredients
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/3 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp grated ginger
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Pat chicken dry and toss with cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
3. Add chicken pieces and cook until golden and crispy, about 6–8 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
4. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Add soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.
6. Whisk cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water) and add to the sauce; cook until thickened.
7. Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the sticky sesame sauce.
8. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
9. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
For extra crispiness, double-fry the chicken pieces.
Add broccoli or bell peppers for a balanced one-pan meal.
You can substitute maple syrup for honey for a deeper sweetness.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat in a skillet to retain texture.
