Description
A creamy, comforting one-pot dish featuring juicy shrimp and tender orzo pasta in a garlic-sun-dried tomato cream sauce—ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
1 cup orzo pasta
2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Marinate shrimp with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper for 10–15 minutes.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and sear shrimp for 2 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
4. Add chopped sun-dried tomatoes and orzo. Stir for 1 minute to toast the orzo.
5. Pour in broth, add Italian seasoning, and simmer for 8–10 minutes until orzo is al dente.
6. Return shrimp to the skillet, stir in heavy cream, and simmer for another 2 minutes.
7. Remove from heat, let rest for 3–5 minutes, and garnish with fresh basil.
Notes
Use frozen shrimp if needed—just thaw fully before marinating.
Substitute with scallops or mushrooms for dietary needs.
For extra spice, add a pinch of red chili flakes.
