Description
This Skellington Cheese Ball Appetizer is a spooky showstopper for any Halloween party! Creamy, savory, and shaped like Jack Skellington’s head, it’s fun to make and even more fun to eat with crackers or veggies.
Ingredients
For the cheese ball:
16 oz (450 g) cream cheese, softened
1½ cups (150 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup (120 ml) sour cream
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for flavor and color)
Salt to taste
For decoration (Jack Skellington face):
6–8 large black olives (for eyes, nose, and mouth)
Plastic wrap
Crackers, breadsticks, or veggie sticks for serving
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, cheddar, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings until smooth and creamy.
2. Transfer the mixture onto a large piece of plastic wrap. Shape it into a ball, then slightly elongate the bottom to resemble a skull shape. Wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
3. Unwrap the chilled cheese ball and place it on a serving platter. Smooth the surface with a spatula or spoon.
4. Slice black olives to create eyes, a nose, and a stitched mouth pattern. Press them gently into the cheese ball to form Jack’s iconic face.
5. Surround with crackers, breadsticks, or pretzels and serve chilled.
