Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with the milk until smooth.
  5. Add the fresh orange juice and orange zest, stirring until combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans and level the tops.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let cakes cool in the pans before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. For frosting, beat the unsalted butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and orange juice until fluffy.
  10. Once cooled, frost the cakes and serve.
