Description
Decadent French toast stuffed with a luscious strawberry cream cheese filling crisp on the outside, creamy and fruity inside, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch treat.
Ingredients
8 slices brioche or challah bread
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
Butter for cooking
Powdered sugar, syrup, and extra strawberries for serving
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
2. Spread a layer of cream cheese mixture on 4 slices of bread, then top with sliced strawberries.
3. Cover each with another slice of bread to form sandwiches.
4. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla.
5. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a little butter.
6. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
7. Cook each side until golden brown and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side.
8. Serve warm with powdered sugar, syrup, and extra strawberries on top.
Notes
Use slightly stale bread — it holds up better when soaked.
Add a bit of lemon zest to the cream cheese for a fresh twist.
For a lighter option, substitute Greek yogurt for part of the cream cheese.
