Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two or three round cake pans.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time to the mixture, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
  6. Prepare the batter by dividing it evenly among the prepared pans.
  7. Bake the cakes for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  10. Assemble the cake by layering it with strawberry syrup, strawberries, and whipped cream.
  11. Decorate the top with whipped cream and sliced strawberries.
  12. Slice and serve the cake chilled.
