Fluffy homemade waffles layered with sweet whipped cream and fresh strawberries a fun, indulgent twist on the classic strawberry shortcake dessert.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
2 cups whipped cream or whipped topping
Maple syrup or strawberry sauce (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined (do not overmix).
5. Cook waffles in preheated waffle iron until golden and crisp.
6. To assemble, place one waffle on a plate, top with a layer of whipped cream and sliced strawberries.
7. Repeat to create stacks, finishing with whipped cream and a few strawberries on top.
8. Drizzle with maple syrup or strawberry sauce if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
You can use store-bought waffles for a quicker version.
Try adding a bit of lemon zest to the batter for extra brightness.
For a lighter option, substitute Greek yogurt for part of the whipped cream.
