- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Fresh berries or chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix well until smooth.
- Carefully stir in boiling water until fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely in the pans.
- While cooling, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread whipped cream on top, and place the second layer on top.
- Frost or garnish as desired with fresh berries or chocolate shavings.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly and freeze.
