  • Author: Michael
  • Total Time: 45 mins
  • Yield: 12 cupcakes 1x

Description

These Vampire Cupcakes are the ultimate Halloween treat rich chocolate cupcakes topped with fluffy vanilla frosting, candy vampire fangs, and drizzles of red ‘blood’ icing for a spooky, dramatic effect. Perfect for Halloween parties, kids’ events, or themed movie nights!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cupcakes:

1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box: eggs, oil, water)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup water

For the Frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

23 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Decoration:

Candy vampire fangs or white chocolate chips

Red gel icing or melted red candy melts (‘blood’)

Optional: black or purple sprinkles, edible glitter

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.

2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Mix until smooth and well combined.

3. Divide the batter evenly among the liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

4. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack.

5. In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk (one tablespoon at a time), and vanilla extract. Beat until light and fluffy.

6. Frost each cupcake generously with buttercream.

7. Insert candy vampire fangs into the frosting near the top, then drizzle with red gel icing or melted candy to create ‘blood’ drips.

8. Add black or purple sprinkles or edible glitter if desired.

9. Arrange on a Halloween platter and serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Notes

You can fill the center of cupcakes with raspberry or strawberry jam for an extra spooky surprise.

For dairy-free cupcakes, use vegan butter and plant-based milk for the frosting.

Add a drop of red food coloring to the frosting for a more eerie effect.

These cupcakes are best served the same day for the freshest texture and presentation.
