Description

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened, for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Then add the vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the wet and dry mixtures, alternating with milk.
  7. Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, checking with a toothpick.
  9. Cool in the tin for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. Make the buttercream by beating butter, then adding powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the buttercream.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients, and avoid overmixing the batter.
