Description

Chai Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful twist on a classic favorite, blending warming chai spices with fluffy cinnamon rolls for a comforting treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon chai spice mix
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup butter for caramel sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chai spice mix for caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dry ingredients by mixing the flour, sugar, salt, and chai spice mix in a large bowl.
  2. Activate the yeast by heating the milk until warm and sprinkling the instant yeast into it. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Combine the melted butter with the milk mixture and pour it into the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape on a floured surface.
  7. Prepare the filling by combining brown sugar, melted butter, and chai spice mix. Spread it evenly on the rolled-out dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from one end and slice it into 1-inch thick pieces.
  9. Second rise the sliced rolls in a greased pan for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Make the frosting by whisking together cream cheese and powdered sugar, adding vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Prepare the caramel sauce by melting brown sugar and butter in a saucepan.
  13. Combine the rolls with warm caramel sauce and cream cheese frosting before serving.

Notes

Chai Cinnamon Rolls are best served warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat before serving.
