- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture alternately with the milk until just combined.
- Spread half of the batter in the greased baking pan.
- Make the cinnamon filling by combining brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture over the batter and swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the bars on a wire rack.
- Make the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth and gradually adding powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Frost the cooled bars and cut into squares.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
