- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar (or substitute for refined sugar-free)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 ripe mangoes
- Sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rinsed rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Steam the rice in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth for 20-25 minutes until tender.
- Prepare the coconut sauce by heating coconut milk with sugar and salt until dissolved, reserving some for drizzling.
- Combine the cooked rice with the coconut mixture, mixing gently and letting it sit for 30 minutes.
- Slice the mangoes into segments or pieces.
- Serve by placing sticky rice on a plate, adding mango slices, and drizzling with reserved coconut sauce; garnish if desired.
Notes
