Description

A popular Thai dessert made with glutinous rice, coconut milk, and fresh mango slices, offering a delightful balance of sweet and creamy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar (or substitute for refined sugar-free)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ripe mangoes
  • Sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rinsed rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Steam the rice in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth for 20-25 minutes until tender.
  4. Prepare the coconut sauce by heating coconut milk with sugar and salt until dissolved, reserving some for drizzling.
  5. Combine the cooked rice with the coconut mixture, mixing gently and letting it sit for 30 minutes.
  6. Slice the mangoes into segments or pieces.
  7. Serve by placing sticky rice on a plate, adding mango slices, and drizzling with reserved coconut sauce; garnish if desired.

Notes

Use quality ingredients for the best flavor. Serve fresh, and store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.
